Yi's city - changes during the past decade(Urumqi China)

During the past ten years,a great changes has taken place in my city.I lived in a small city,which is situated in north-west of China.Compared with other cities,my hometown was less developed. I still remember when I was very young, my parents and I lived in a house with a small yard which didn't have a toilet and sink.We rarely saw the private cars on the road, people usually went to work by bicycle. However, the population in my city grew dramatically during the last decade, for providing more accommodations, the most of individual houses have been demolished to make a way for building apartments.For catering to the need of development of local industry,a great deal of trees have been replaced by some factories.Our old airport which had only one terminal were upgraded,and now we have an advanced new airport with three terminals.As well as this, the road was widened and a lot of parks were constructed which can better serve as the purpose of providing convenience and easiness.
However, the increase of industry does not come without drawbacks.Now our city has been badly polluted by factories,and the road is crawled by private cars which often make too much noise. Is development of industry an angel for our planet or rather the human beings?
