The changes of Seoul which is Patrick’s hometown

My hometown is Seoul which has changed remarkably for last 30 years. The changes have showed much the same as other capital cities have done. For instance, there were the cutting down the green area, the demolishing of old buildings, the development in public transport infrastructure, the increasing of population density, and the extension of the city’s border. In my thinking, the most noticeable change is that most of the individual houses have been cleared to make way for apartments. What is more the heart of the city has moved from the north area of the Han-River to south area.

It seems to me the changes have directly affected by two big events. One was the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988 and the other was the Soccer World Cup in 2002. Experiencing such big events, Seoul could have achieved in a globalization as well as an improving of living standard. As a result of this, most shopping malls and restaurants have been westernized.
