Emily's hometown - Seoul

My home town is Seoul where has been capital for over 6000 years in South Korea. As the capital city, it experienced a lot of changes, especially, during 20 years period.

The most striking one is that most of the trees along the River Han were cut down to make way for skyscrapers. As well as this, new bridges were built, and a new stretch of railway was constructed across the river.

In terms of the area north of the river, most of the woodland along the river was cleared to prepare new space for some park. Further development was the construction of the main soccer stadium near the north-west of the river in 2002.

In terms of the area south of the river, the town was a considerably greener area with a number of trees and individual houses, but over the next 20 years the town has a lot of changes. The most noticeable one is that most of individual houses south of the river were demolished to make way for the main area of business in Korea. Accordingly, lots of tall buildings and factories sprang up, and many new hotels and restaurants are being built.
