The population in Vietnam is more than 87 millions. Being a huge population , transport systems in VN is a big problem. Although the government has tried many ways to deal with transport problems, they are still terrible.
The population is growing up everyday, but the roads and streets are still small and have not been upgraded, so transport jams always happen in the rush hours. Many roads are also run-down because they are too old, it makes many people get accidents. In NZ, using cars to travel is a good idea, however in VN, you should use motorbikes because if you use car in the rush hours, you will stuck in there for very long time. Personally, if you don't want to waste your time, you should use motorbike in VN. When i was in VN, i saw many Western people who worked in Vn, used motorbikes to move. Even though, using motorbikes is quite dangerous, its still a good idea in Vn because Motorbikes are very cheap and convenient.
Hi Leo,
ReplyDeleteMy friend (an ex-Unitec teacher) went to teach in Vietnam and she had a private chauffeur! (I think her husband had quite a good job so she had her own private driver, which I found incredible.)
You haven't mentioned public transport - is this not so popular?
By the way, here is some feedback about participles:
Being a huge population, the transport system in Vietnam is a big problem.
This means:
The transport system in Vietnam is a big problem.
The transport system is a huge population.
If you use a participle, the subjects must be the same (agree).
Having a huge population, Vietnam has a problem with its transport system.
=
Vietnam has a huge population.
Vietnam has a problem with transport.
Think:
Walking home in the storm, a tree nearly fell on my head. (Here the TREE is walking home.)
I hope this helps.
Carolyn :)
Hello Leo
ReplyDeleteThe traffic jam always got on my nervous when I was in China, for I had to take a bus to go to school everyday. But in my city, people who want to avoid peak time usually go to school by bicycle, so it is quite different from your city.
Riding motorbikes is probably dangerous, but it will definitely be a exciting experience for me.
