Guangzhou, where is in the south of China, is my hometown. It’s one of the most famous cities in China. In the following, I’ll tell you about the changes in Guangzhou between 2000 and 2010.
In 2000, there were a lot of factories in Guangzhou, but it also had a lot of trees in the north of Guangzhou. In the following 10 years, my city has changed a lot. The most noticeable one is that the Pearl River used to be polluted, but now it’s getting clearer and some people swim in the river in summer. Some of the woodland in the north of Guangzhou was cleared to make way for the individual houses and factories. As well as this, a new airport was built in the south-west of Guangzhou.
In terms of the area south of Guangzhou, only a few trees remained. Most of the individual houses were demolished, and a new individual estate with factories and skyscrapers sprung up around the parks and zoo. Further developments are the construction of a stadium for the Asian Games and a new stretch of subway running directly north-west.
Overall, a comparasion of Guangzhou between 2000 and 2010 shows that Guangzhou will become a international city.
