The Yangtze River dolphin - Jin

The Yangtze river dolphin, whose name originated from its natural habitat, was also calledthe panda in  river ”on account of its rarity. It was a mammal and had a stocky body about two meters long. Addition to this, it had tiny eyes and reasonable eyesight. As a very shy animal, it was difficult to approach.
In 1975, the Yangtze river dolphin was declared a “National Treasure”. As a result, China government set up nature reserve to protect it. Unfortunately, this had little success because of heavy boat traffic, fishing and industrial pollution. In the year of 2007,organizers declared the Yangtze river dolphin extinct , which would make it the first aquatic mammal species to become extinct.
